Baggage Claim Building Remodel

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Passengers collecting their baggage are discovering a more welcoming experience and comfortable environment upon arrival in Milwaukee. The 45,000 sf passenger service main floor and the 45,000 sf basement baggage conveyor system was remodeled to include five new baggage carousels, sliding door entries, relocated airline baggage service offices and ADA compliant rest rooms. Sustainable design elements include extensive daylighting, a green roof and educational signage. Especially important to the airport, phased construction allowed the facility to remain operational through the twenty-three-month remodeling.

The projects main objectives were to improve passenger service and satisfaction, upgrade the baggage handling system, design, construct and operate sustainably, increase natural lighting, reorganize for a more efficient use of space, improve access to baggage service offices, improve wayfinding and provide a covered roadway.
